Connections Make It Better!

We encourage connection, through this portal, through SQWAD, through field training, through coach roundtables, or through being good sports to each other on the field. It pays off, and here is exhibit A - a pre-match exchange between two coaches:

I see your team are one of the best teams in the bracket, and we are the worst. So without any intervention, I expect this to be an upsetting blowout for our team, and probably pretty boring for your team. I wanted to ask if you would consider maybe trying to go easy on us, and/or find a way to make it more of a challenge for your team. Maybe giving more playing time to weaker players, etc. We're missing our goalie, so if you have a backup one that you wanted to train, they'd likely get a lot of action if you wanted to lend them to our goalbox! Anyways, just wanted to put this out there in the hopes that we could try to make it a merciful game.  

Thank you for reaching out. Our team suffered some pretty bad loses last season so I know how it feels. We talked to our team at practice today and will try and mix things up tomorrow to even things out. I’m not sure if I will be able to convince any of our players to step in as goalie for your team but will confirm tomorrow.

Thank you, that game was really fun for my kids, I really appreciated what you do with your team to make it more engaging, (like the 5 pass rule) even though not exactly evenly matched.

Some kids on my team were saying “the most fun game yet!”
