Introducing the newest SFYS Board Member, Nicole Bolter
Nicole brings a wealth of sport-related knowledge to SFYS!
The SFYS Board of Directors is excited to welcome Nicole Bolter as our newest Board Member. SFYS staff members Eloisa Tejero and Hazen Sewell met Nicole at the Project Play Summit and were immediately impressed with her background and involvement in youth sport.
As a professor of both undergraduate and graduate classes at SFSU in the Department of Kinesiology, Nicole brings a wealth of knowledge about sport and exercise psychology. Nicole's research centers on how participation in sport and physical activity can be a growth experience for children and adolescents, including the role coaches, parents, and peers play in shaping youths' motivation and social emotional development. She keeps wondering how physical activity contexts can be structured to maximize the presumed psychosocial and physical benefits of participation. Much of Nicole's work over the past 15 years has focused on evaluating physical activity-based youth development programs - including Girls on the Run and Junior Giants - and we believe her experience and passions align well with the values SFYS holds, and our player-first mentality.
Nicole is herself a mother of two soccer players, one of whom plays on an SFYS team for which she is the Team Manager...and she has been known to STAR every now and then!
We're excited to have Nicole's experience and passion added to our Board of Directors.
