Guest Play Tips

For Team Admins, Parents and Caregivers

Guest playing with SFYS has a few nuances that we'll explain here. 

 

All players - whether on an overflow guest team - or guesting from another team MUST:

  • Be registered on a team with SFYS

  • Have paid the season fee ($140)

  • Have their birth documents verified

 

If your team is at the roster maximum, you must update your players' attendance first to make room for guest players. 

 

Getting a cleared Guest Player is a three-step process:

  1. A Team Admin registers the player on your team with the role of Guest Player. 

  2. The parent/caregiver receives an email and must accept the invitation.

  3. The parent/caregiver or Team Manager updates the player’s attendance for the game.

We know this process takes a little getting used to, and we’re here to help every step of the way!

 

On Game Day, if your guest player isn't showing up on your GDPR, you can show the referee a copy of a GDPR from the player's SFYS "home team". This alerts the referee that the player is registered, paid and cleared, and eligible to play. There is never any need for a coach to lie about a player's identity if they aren't on the GDPR. Does your team have more interested players than the roster maximum allows?
Teams in this situation can create an “overflow” team that includes players who:

  • Can’t make most practices

  • Just want to be available as needed

  • Players registered on a non-SFYS team that want the option of playing with their friends
