We know coaches can't always be at every game! Here are a few ideas to find a guest coach for your team:
- Introduce yourself to a coach practicing at an adjacent field during your regular practices and exchange contact info
- Pro tip: invite the coach, and/or the entire team to have a post-practice snack with your team to build community
- Look at the weekend game schedule and reach out to the coach whose team is playing just before or just after yours
- Visit sfyouthsoccer.org
- Events (on top menu bar)
- Select SFYS Fall 2025
- Scroll down to the Venues section of that page
- Click on the field where your team will be playing
- You'll see all teams playing on all dates at that field
- Reach out to SFYS staff to get contact information for the team you'd like to contact (info@sfyouthsoccer.org, (415) 504-8131)
- Do you coach a school-based team? Reach out to a coach who is coaching a different age team at your school
- Post on our community portal that you need help
- When you attend any type of coach training function, exchange contact info with fellow attendees
- Remember: your Team Admin (Team Manager) - if cleared - can stand in for half the game (so your guest coach has more flexibility on timing). Team admins, consider getting your Grassroots coaching license (done fully online) as a backup for your coach.
Reminder: if you are guest coaching, please bring a copy of your own Game Day Photo Roster (GDPR) so the referee can verify you are cleared to coach. (Or, you can be added as a guest coach to the team you are helping.)
