SFYS YAC Presents : Youth Referee Initiative
YAC is launching our very first Youth Referee Initiative -- Find out more below!
SFYS YAC’s Youth Ref Leaders will be creating different opportunities for the SFYS Community to engage in intentional conversation about refereeing for spectators (parents/caregivers), coaches, players, and young players interested in reffing.
The goal of this project is to share experiences that youth refs go through so that there will be an increased empathy and respect as the fall season launches — and beyond.
We will be introducing our YAC Youth Ref Leaders throughout the next few weeks, and we will be hosting two workshops in August in preparation for the fall season! Stay tuned for details!

This is amazing and I can't wait to hear more! As a coach, and the parent of a youth referee, I have witnessed too many times when my son - or another youth ref that I coach - has been yelled at by coaches or spectators. I welcome this opportunity for our soccer community to remember that youth refs are not only trained and experienced, but also young people often engaging in their first job. Thank you to all the youth refs (and future youth refs) that I know, you are so brave!
