The end of the season is here. How to end it?
SFYS does not provide participation trophies or medals.
However, within your team, the options are endless. In no particular order are ideas, and the comments are open below for you to share your experience too :-)
* End of season party
Could be held ANYWHERE, from renting space, to going to a restaurant, to meeting at the beach and so on.
Potluck. Bring your own food. No food.
Gifts. No gifts.
We believe this should be required for all teams. A party is a thank you for all involved!
You might also include some of these within that party:
* Certificate
This is easily customized and a great pin up for the fridge or at home!
* Awards ceremony
Create a couple of categories to have players vote.
- Best player
- Best goal
- Best team mate
- Most likely to...
etc etc.
OR, an award for each player. 12 weeks with the players will help you understand each personality, and create awards accordingly!
* Photo Shoot
End of season pictures can be a great memento for players. Or, if parents have taken pictures throughout the season, get an action shot of each player and get it printed for them.
* Reflection Session
Spend some time asking players, and their families, for their reflection on the season.
Be sure to focus on controllables:
- Did you ever give a 0/10 in effort? (or other key aspect if you and your team developed 'standards' or 'expectations')
- What did you learn about yourself this season?
- What did you like the most this season?
- What was the hardest thing you faced this season?
- What are you going to bring to next season?
Questions can be endless here!
Then, prep for next season!

Great suggestions! We often get pizza delivered to the pitch after the last game, and that works well since the kids are already there and it's easy for families to hang out. Works better for some pitches than others.
