Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fall 2025 season. It was a privilege to watch players grow—both in their soccer skills and in life skills—on and off the field. We’re grateful to have learned and grown alongside them, and with you.
As a player-first organization, we’re committed to continually improving how we serve our community. Here’s where we’re focusing for Spring 2026:
Schedules
We plan to leverage our scheduling platform to share information earlier. Our goal is to release draft flights by 1/9, a draft schedule by 1/16, and a final schedule by 1/31 (five weeks before the season begins). These dates are tentative and dependent on field permits from SF Rec and Park.
Flights / Brackets / Pools
Spring 2026 pools will be informed by Fall 2025 results and team play preferences, with the goal of improving competition and overall playing experience. We’re also open to exploring mid-season re-bracketing in divisions where there’s sufficient interest and support for schedule adjustments.
Positive Play Policy (formerly the Mercy Rule)
We’ve heard a range of perspectives on this policy and welcome continued feedback. Improved bracketing should reduce the need for intervention, particularly given goal differentials as high as +50 and -50 this season. We look forward to refining our approach for the spring.
Sportsmanship
This season brought some challenges around sportsmanship among players, coaches, and spectators. A player-first environment values not just the outcome of a match, but how the game is played—respecting opponents, referees, and the spirit of the game.
Player Support
We want players to fall in love with soccer. During the offseason, we hope to offer goalkeeper and player clinics to support continued development.
Coach Support
We’re looking to expand support for coaches who are new to the league, new to coaching, or want to learn new tools to help interactions with youth. Coaching is about more than the game itself—it’s also about creating age-appropriate practices and game-day experiences.
Smaller-Sided Games
For middle school divisions, we moved from 11v11 to 9v9 based on coach feedback around touches on the ball, game speed, and roster flexibility. With enough interest, we’re happy to continue offering 11v11 options (as we do in the BU15 Premier Division).
Referees
Thank you for sharing your feedback about referee experiences. We’re working on ways to support their ongoing learning, confidence, and resilience during the offseason.
We’ll share results from the Fall 2025 survey at our Annual AGM in February, and it’s not too late to submit your feedback.
Together, as a community, we can continue to improve youth sports.
Enjoy the offseason and stay active!
